Major IanRANDSMBE Major Ian Rands MBE has passed away peacefully at home in West Pennard, aged 96.

He leaves three children, three grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren - and over 37,500 trees.

At Ian's request, there will be no funeral service, flowers or donations.

If you would like to honour Ian's memory, please consider planting a tree.

Ian was an inspiring leader, holding together teams of volunteer tree weekly planters over many years in the wider Glastonbury area. Old and young came out in all weathers to increase the green cover in our countryside and villages, finding companionship and pleasure in the shared endeavour. The results bear testament to Ian's life and vision, conserving and improving our land.
